Treatment Plans and Intervention for Depression and Anxiety |
||
Sometimes the feelings of depression and anxiety in a loved one is so severe that it can be difficult to come up with treatment plans and intervention for their disease. Anxiety is a difficult disorder to diagnose. It's cause can be either physical or psychological - and the treatment plans are different for each. If the cause is physical in nature, the treatments may involve prescribed medication such as Lipitor, Zoloft, buspirone, or some other medication. If the cause is psychological, the treatment may involve months or possibly year of psychology therapy. If you know someone that is suffering from anxiety, depression, or both, but they are unwilling to get treatment or have anything done about it, then you need to work with a health professional to come up an intervention plan. You probably will feel bad at first, but in the end if you and other friends and family members come up with an intervention that will result in a safe and effective treatment plan that can be used on this person, they will be better off overall. After all, if left untreated, depression and anxiety can both be potentially dangerous, and even life threatening. There are many different issues that you need to take into consideration when coming up with treatment plans and intervention for depression and anxiety. The first thing you have to do is speak to the sufferer's doctor, so that they know what is going on and can give you advice on what to do. You will also need to find a good psychotherapist who is willing to work with them, as this is the first person that they are going to have to see in order to get a proper diagnosis and assessment made. This is who will be able to explain the condition and prescribe any necessary medication. The next thing that needs to be considered is treatment. There are so many different types of treatment that are available, and although it will for the most part be up to the therapist and doctor as to which method will be best the patient is going to have to have some input as well. Depending on whether they are already taking other medications, for instance, their weight, adaptability, and so on, all of these factors will play a part in terms of what treatment methods are going to be viable. Even though you are putting all of this time and effort into trying to help your friend or family member, they may not initially see it that way and they may be angry or frustrated with you at first. This can make it difficult, but you have to stay strong and remember that in the end of it all, once they have gotten proper help and treatment and are feeling better, that they are going to thank you for it. A lot of those who suffer from depression and anxiety stay in denial about it for a long time do not get treatment, and their condition only continues to get worse and worse. This is when it is important for family and friends to step in and take charge.
