Celexa For Nighttime Anxiety

For a person with an anxiety disorder, nighttime anxiety can be the most anxious time of all. Celexa is often prescribed to calm a person down. The danger is that even though Celexa is not physically addictive, it can become psychologically addictive and many who have used it for a while find that they have trouble discontinuing its use.

Anxiety is a normal and healthy condition, and almost everyone has at least a bit of anxiety now and again, however there is a point at which the anxiety becomes too much, and begins to be problematic in a person's life. This is when something needs to be done to correct the situation, and there are many different methods of treatment that are available.

Celexa For Nighttime Anxiety Relief

One of the most commonly recommended treatment methods for anxiety, in particular for nighttime anxiety, is Celexa. The use of Celexa for nighttime anxiety has been incredibly successful. It is an antidepressant that is considered as being in a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs.

Celexa is a medication that works by affecting certain chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression, besides using Celexa for nighttime anxiety, there are also a variety of other health problems and conditions that you can use it for.

One of the most important things to know if you are planning on using Celexa for nighttime anxiety, is that you should not take Celexa together with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor, and this includes, for instance, Marplan, Nardil, Azilect, Emsam, and Parnate.

As well when taking Celexa for nighttime anxiety, you need to make sure that you wait at least 14 days after stopping any of these or another monoamine oxidase inhibitor, and once you stop taking the Celexa, you must again wait 14 days before you start taking any monoamine oxidase inhibitor again.

You also want to be sure that you call your doctor immediately if you experience any problems when taking Celexa. These problems can include anything from mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, impulsiveness, irritability, hostility, aggressiveness, restlessness, and depression.

Other Treatments

There are other treatments as well that you can use to help cope with your anxiety, including natural treatments. Breathing techniques, for instance, come highly recommended and are generally very successful in treating or at least relieving anxiety symptoms.

When you are anxious, your breathing will typically be quick and shallow, and this does not allow enough oxygen to get to your organs and thus makes you even more anxious and can even result in hyperventilation. It is important to breathe deeply and from the diaphragm, rather than from the chest.

In order to determine whether you are breathing from the correct area, place one hand on your chest and the other on your stomach, and take a few deep breaths. If your chest is moving, you are breathing incorrectly, and if your stomach is moving, you are breathing correctly, from your diaphragm.
